Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission X, Lalu Hadrian Irfani, has highlighted the case of violence against dozens of children at the Little Aresha childcare facility or daycare in Yogyakarta. Commission X of the House of Representatives will soon summon the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, to discuss the matter.

“We will summon the education department. We ask the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to tighten education and childcare standards in daycares,” Lalu told reporters on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Lalu emphasised that this case must be a serious concern for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). The ministry, according to him, must take concrete steps to resolve this issue.

“Supervision must be tightened, and daycare service standards must be strictly enforced. There can be no compromise on child safety and protection,” he said.

In addition, he expressed deep concern over the alleged child abuse case at the Little Aresha daycare in Yogyakarta City. Lalu strongly condemned the violent actions and stressed that all forms of violence against children cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

“We are deeply concerned and strongly condemn the alleged violence against children in the daycare environment. A place that should be a safe space has instead become the site of inhumane acts,” he stated.

Furthermore, Lalu urged the government to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of daycare management across Indonesia to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

“The Little Aresha Daycare case must serve as a momentum for comprehensive improvements, including strengthening child protection and supervision systems. The state must be present to ensure every child receives maximum protection,” he added.

It was previously reported that police raided the Little Aresha daycare on Friday (24/4). Officers found the children in tied-up conditions during the raid.

The victims were on average under two years old. Police then secured 30 people in the raid.

After intensive examination, 13 people were designated as suspects in the Little Aresha daycare abuse case. The suspects include foundation leaders to caregivers.

Regarding the motive, it is still under police investigation. So far, there are 53 documented child victims.

“So, up to last night, after holding a case review, 13 people were designated as temporary suspects,” said Yogyakarta Police Chief Commissioner Eva Guna Pandia, as quoted by detikJogja on Saturday (25/4).
