House Commission VII Encourages Other Regions to Emulate Adeging Mangkunegaran Innovation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chair of House Commission VII, Chusnunia, has encouraged other local governments to emulate the innovation of the Adeging Mangkunegaran event, which successfully combines culture and modern spectacles to stimulate the local economy. “This success is certainly expected to inspire other regions that are working hard to advance their tourism sector in order to boost regional economies,” Chusnunia stated in Jakarta on Tuesday. She said that Adeging Mangkunegaran is no longer just a cultural ceremony but has transformed into a collaborative model that directly impacts society, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). According to her, the concept that combines culture, cuisine, and sports is the main strength in attracting public participation while expanding economic impact. In its 269th edition, held from 1–3 May 2026, the series of activities includes Mangkunegaran Makan-Makan with more than 80 stalls of traditional cuisine, a Royal Heritage Dinner for around 150 guests, and the Mangkunegaran Run participated in by 7,700 runners in 5K, 10K, and half marathon categories. “The Mangkunegaran Run has successfully become a space for togetherness that combines sports, culture, and social interaction in one open experience for all levels,” she said. Chusnunia noted that the success of the event themed “From Culture For Future” serves as a momentum to promote culture-based tourism as well as sports tourism with broad economic impacts. She revealed that the event is projected to generate an economic turnover of more than Rp40 billion for the city of Surakarta. “Indonesia, with its wealth and long history of culture, can certainly continue to innovate in packaging it into a unique attraction; other regions can learn and innovate on how to package tradition preservation events and modern events that attract tens of thousands of visitors, thus providing real economic impacts for the community,” she stated. Chusnunia also encouraged the Ministry of Tourism to expand support for similar events so that the benefits of tourism are increasingly felt by the community. “In this way, the impact of tourism can be directly felt by the community, UMKM actors, and the regional economy,” she said.
