House Commission VI: No Fuel Price Hike Proves Prabowo is Ready to Face Global Dynamics
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission VI Andre Rosiade views the government’s policy of not increasing fuel prices as evidence that President Prabowo Subianto is fully prepared to address the global geopolitical situation.
According to him, 85 countries worldwide, including seven in Southeast Asia, have raised fuel prices. However, he stated that Indonesia is sticking to its policy of not increasing fuel prices.
“So the public need not worry or queue for fuel at petrol stations because firstly, there is no price increase for fuel and secondly, stocks are secure,” Andre said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
As a commission partnered with Pertamina, he is continuously coordinating to ensure and secure fuel stocks across Indonesia. According to him, fuel stocks are currently still secure.
Additionally, according to him, the government has not yet issued a policy on restricting fuel purchases. However, he has heard that it is only at the planning stage, as part of efficiency measures.
“We await the scheme later between the government, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Pertamina. Clearly, we in the House of Representatives certainly support the government’s steps,” he said.
Previously, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government ensures that fuel prices, both subsidised and non-subsidised, will not experience any increase.
In an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3), Prasetyo said the decision was taken after the government coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PT Pertamina, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.
“The President always prioritises the interests of the people and society in making decisions. That is why Pertamina has stated that it will not adjust prices for either subsidised or non-subsidised fuel,” Prasetyo said.
