Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission VI Andre Rosiade stated that the current fuel oil (BBM) stocks are still secure because the government has new methods, including new oil sources.

“So, I urge all Indonesian people to remain calm that there will be no price increases and our stocks are very secure,” Andre said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In addition, he mentioned that oil tanker ships for Indonesia are currently in the process of crossing the Strait of Hormuz in the waters of the Middle East gulf.

Because, he said, Indonesia is one of the countries that will join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

“So, there are no problems, it’s just a matter of administrative process,” he said.

For this reason, he assured that he will continue to coordinate with PT Pertamina (Persero) to guarantee the distribution and availability of BBM for public consumption.

“What is certain is that we appreciate and support President Prabowo’s government steps regarding no BBM price increases. That is the most important thing first,” he said.

Previously, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government ensures that fuel oil (BBM) prices, both subsidised and non-subsidised, will not experience increases.

Through an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3), Prasetyo said the decision was taken after the government coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and PT Pertamina, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.

“Mr. President always prioritises the interests of the people and society in making decisions. Therefore, Pertamina states that it will not yet adjust prices for either subsidised BBM or non-subsidised BBM,” Prasetyo said.
