Jakarta — House of Representatives Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman has expressed support for the National Police in taking firm action against former Bima City Police Chief Didik Putra Kuncoro, who has been implicated in a narcotics case. Habiburokhman said the enforcement action demonstrates that the police show no compromise towards those who break the law.

“Commission III of the House supports the National Police in taking firm action against the former Bima Police Chief in connection with a narcotics trafficking case. This proves that the police show no compromise in prosecuting lawbreakers, including those who hold the status of police officers,” Habiburokhman said on Monday (16/2/2026).

Habiburokhman said the firm action against the former Bima Police Chief demonstrates that the National Police is the institution most responsive to public complaints regarding the conduct of individuals who commit violations. He expressed appreciation for the police’s firm stance in imposing both ethical and criminal sanctions against the former police chief.

“This firm stance is in accordance with the provisions of Article 23 paragraph (7) of the new Criminal Procedure Code, which stipulates that every law enforcement officer who commits a violation shall be subject to ethical, administrative and criminal sanctions,” he said.

He expressed hope that the former Bima Police Chief would receive a heavier sentence if found guilty, as police officers should set an example for the public in staying clear of narcotics cases.

“If he is ultimately proven to have committed a criminal offence, then the former Bima Police Chief should receive a heavier sentence than the average sentence given to offenders who are not members of the police. This is important because as a police officer, he should have been at the forefront of narcotics eradication, yet instead he was involved,” he said.

Previously, former Bima City Police Chief Senior Commissioner Didik Putra Kuncoro was scheduled to face an ethics hearing this week. National Police Headquarters has committed to acting firmly and impartially, including investigating other individuals involved.

“The Police Professional Code of Ethics hearing for Senior Commissioner DPK is planned to be held on Thursday, 19 February 2026,” said National Police Public Relations Division Head Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir at a press conference on Sunday (15/2/2026).

The hearing will be held at the Professional Accountability Bureau hearing room of the Police Professional Security Division at the TNCC Building in South Jakarta.

Currently, Senior Commissioner Didik, who has been named a suspect, is still undergoing Special Placement by the Professional Security Division to facilitate the investigation. Based on evidence found at his private residence, including methamphetamine, ecstasy and psychotropic substances, he has been charged under Law Number 5 of 1997 on Psychotropic Substances as well as narcotics legislation.

The case is a development from the arrest of former Head of the Bima City Police Narcotics Unit, Commissioner Malaungi. To date, a joint team from the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency and the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police continues to pursue a major dealer with the initial E, suspected of being the primary supplier in the network.

The National Police has also formed a joint team comprising the Criminal Investigation Agency’s Narcotics Directorate and the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Narcotics Directorate to investigate the wider network, including pursuing the dealer identified by the initial E. Based on preliminary investigations, the network’s involvement is estimated to have been ongoing since August 2025.

“If any further personnel are found to be involved in supporting these illegal activities, we will pursue legal proceedings and ethics hearings without exception. This is a manifestation of the National Police’s commitment in the war against narcotics that threaten the nation’s future generations,” Inspector General Isir affirmed.
