Istanbul (ANTARA) - Accommodation prices at star-rated hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), have plummeted by up to 75 percent due to the escalation of tensions in the Gulf region, according to findings from RIA Novosti.

The news agency analysed daily rates for two guests with check-in dates in early April. It found that the average daily accommodation price at four-star hotels had fallen by up to 75 percent, while prices at five-star hotels had dropped by more than 66 percent.

In Abu Dhabi, for example, room rates at the four-star Mercure hotel were offered at $54, down from $200-$250 charged in January and February.

Similar conditions were seen at the TRYP by Wyndham hotel with daily room rates starting from $57, Ramada Downtown at $54, and La Quinta by Wyndham at $61.

Meanwhile, five-star hotels in Abu Dhabi applied discounts of approximately half to two-thirds off their original prices. Rooms at the Rixos Marina hotel were sold starting from $225 per night, Ritz Carlton from $231, Shangri-La at $201, and Radisson at $125.

In Dubai, four-star hotels selling rooms for $50-$60 included Stella di Mare, Time Oak, and Hyatt Place.

For five-star hotel accommodation in Dubai, Dusit Thani offered rates starting from $95, Hilton Jumeirah from $155, Pullman Jumeirah at $90, Radisson Blu at $87, and Movenpick Jumeirah at $167.

The daytime temperature in the UAE throughout April is estimated to range from 25-30 degrees Celsius.

Previously, on 28 February, the US and Israel launched joint strikes against Iran, including Tehran, causing infrastructure damage and casualties. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory attacks on Israeli territory and US military bases in the Middle East.
