Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia Begins Operations in Uzbekistan’s Religious Tourism Area
Jakarta: Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia has officially conducted its soft opening in the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex, Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The presence of this three-star hotel marks the initial milestone in developing accommodation facilities in the religious tourism area that is rapidly expanding in the region.
The Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex is a development area spanning approximately 45 hectares, designed to become one of Samarkand’s main religious tourism centres, with an estimated 65,000 visitors per day.
“The presence of Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia reflects the increasingly strong cooperation between Indonesia and Uzbekistan, particularly in the economic and tourism sectors,” stated Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a written statement on Sunday, 12 April 2026.
Expanding global investment portfolio
The soft opening ceremony was marked by a ribbon-cutting procession conducted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin, Samarkand Deputy Governor Rustam Kobilov, and CEO of EGI Resources, Erslan Gazali Ibrahim.
The event also featured Indonesian culture through Legong dance performances, angklung music shows, and typical dishes such as rendang and tongseng. Cultural interaction occurred as invited guests were invited to participate in playing the angklung.
CEO of EGI Resources, Erslan Gazali Ibrahim, revealed that the development of Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia is part of the company’s strategy to expand its international investment portfolio, while building tourism connectivity between Indonesia and Uzbekistan.
This initiative is expected to provide broader economic impacts through increased tourist flows and involvement of business actors in the services and travel sectors.
