The Chairperson of the Bang Japar organisation, who is also a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) for the Jakarta constituency, Fahira Idris, opened the 2nd Batch of Basic Leadership Training (LDK) for Bang Japar at Graha Wisata TMII, Jakarta, on Saturday (16/05/2026). Carrying the theme ‘To Act and To Be Useful’, Fahira asserted that Bang Japar must continue to grow into a large organisation in terms of its utility and dedication to the public.

“Bang Japar must be greater in its benefits. The community must feel the presence of Bang Japar as an organisation that assists, provides peace, and serves as a solution amidst various public issues,” stated Fahlam Idris during the event. According to Fahira, the LDK is not merely an organisational training agenda, but a space to shape the leadership mentality of Bang Japar cadres, fostering discipline, loyalty, social concern, and a spirit of community service.

“Leadership is not about position, but about responsibility. A true leader appears when the community is in need, is ready to work, is prepared for criticism, and does not run from responsibility,” she added. Fahira revealed that Bang Japar was founded on 25 February 2017, driven by a spirit of community care and a desire to maintain stability in Jakarta. Over its journey, Bang Japar has evolved into a community-based social organisation active in various social, humanitarian, advocacy, and community empowerment activities.

Throughout its nearly nine-year history, Bang Japar has consistently sought to be present for the people through various programmes, including free legal aid, health and education advocacy, free ambulance services, social work, blood donations, MSME empowerment, humanitarian aid, maintaining regional stability alongside the Police and TNI, cultural development, and supporting religious activities.

Fahira Idris emphasised that community organisations must be measured by the extent of the benefits felt by the public, rather than mere attributes, membership numbers, or the organisation’s fame. Consequently, she urged all Bang Japar cadres to make community service the primary orientation of the organisation’s struggle. “Do not just be proud of wearing organisational attributes. Become cadres whose presence is missed by the community. Bang Japar needs cadres who are ready to work and serve, not just those who want to be known,” said the Senator from Jakarta.

In her address to the LDK participants, Fahira also shared her experience in building Bang Japar, noting that it was not achieved easily. She admitted that many initially doubted the organisation’s ability to survive, as building an organisation based on volunteerism is considered difficult to sustain. However, she noted that Bang Japar has proven its strength through people driven by empathy and a spirit of service. She also reminded participants that as an organisation grows, so do its challenges, necessitating strong mental fortitude to maintain the organisation’s dignity.
