Homecoming without Worry: JKN Participants Can Still Receive Medical Treatment Throughout Indonesia
In anticipation of the holiday period and joint leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriyah, BPJS Kesehatan has ensured that JKN programme participants can continue to access healthcare services easily across various regions of Indonesia.
This measure is intended to provide convenience for participants undertaking homecoming journeys as well as those remaining in their hometowns during the Eid holiday period.
Rizzky Anugerah, Head of Communications at BPJS Kesehatan, explained that during this period participants can continue to obtain healthcare services based on the portability principle within the JKN Programme.
Through this principle, participants can access healthcare services throughout Indonesia in accordance with applicable procedures without being restricted by domicile or region of origin as stated on the national identity card (KTP).
“With the portability principle, participants undertaking homecoming journeys can still obtain healthcare services throughout Indonesia according to applicable procedures. Participants can also receive treatment at health centres, clinics, or private medical practices that are BPJS Kesehatan partners outside their registered location, with a maximum of three visits within one month,” explained Rizzky in a written statement on Monday (16 March 2026).
“Meanwhile, in the event of a medical emergency, participants can directly access services at the nearest hospital, including hospitals that have not yet established cooperation with BPJS Kesehatan,” he added.
To support easy access to information and administrative services during the Eid holiday, BPJS Kesehatan has also provided various service channels that can be utilised by the public.
Rizzky explained that participants can access the Mobile JKN Application, Administrative Services via WhatsApp (PANDAWA) at the number 08118165165, or the Care Centre 165 if they need information or encounter difficulties related to the JKN Programme services.
“BPJS Kesehatan also provides in-person administrative services at branch offices. Services at branch offices will be open on 18, 20, 23, and 24 March 2026 from 08.00 until 13.30 local time, so the public can continue to obtain direct administrative services both before and after the Eid holiday period,” said Rizzky.
Additionally, to provide direct support to the public during the homecoming period, BPJS Kesehatan has established mudik assistance posts at eight strategic points along homecoming routes operating from 13 to 18 March 2026.
Rizzky explained that the mudik assistance posts are distributed across eight strategic locations, including Merak Harbour in Banten, Pulo Gebang Terminal in East Jakarta, Cipularang Toll Road 88A Rest Area, Cipali Toll Road 166A Rest Area, Ungaran Toll Road 429A Rest Area, Masaran Toll Road 519A Rest Area, Purabaya Terminal in Sidoarjo, and Soekarno-Hatta Harbour in Makassar.
“Through these posts, homecoming travellers can obtain information about the JKN Programme, health consultations, and light health examinations during their homecoming journeys,” clarified Rizzky.
Rizzky added that for participants in the Rujuk Balik (Follow-up Referral) Programme undertaking homecoming journeys to other cities, medication can be obtained at PRB pharmacies in their destination areas.
Meanwhile, for participants with chronic diseases requiring ongoing services, participants can visit health centres, clinics, or private medical practices in their homecoming destination areas, who can then refer them to local hospitals and medications can be obtained from the hospital’s pharmaceutical facilities.
“Importantly, participants need to ensure their JKN Programme membership status remains active by paying contributions regularly. This way, healthcare services can be accessed whenever and wherever needed, including during homecoming journeys and when staying in their hometowns,” said Rizzky.
On a separate occasion, General Director Umi Sjarqiah of Jakarta Islamic Hospital Pondok Kopi confirmed that the healthcare facility under her leadership will continue to provide services to JKN participants during the Eid holiday period.
According to Umi, several main services will continue to operate including the 24-hour Emergency Department (IGD), inpatient services, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy to ensure the public can continue to access healthcare services when needed.
“Given that our hospital’s location is relatively close to Pulo Gebang Terminal, we have prepared service arrangements and healthcare worker schedules to ensure services continue to operate optimally during the Eid holiday period. Several outpatient clinic services will also remain open on a limited basis on 18, 23, and 24 March 2026,” explained Umi.
Umi also emphasised that JKN participants located outside their home region can continue to access healthcare services at the hospital in accordance with applicable regulations.
In emergency situations, patients can proceed directly to the Emergency Department to receive treatment without requiring prior referral.
“In addition to service preparedness, we also ensure the availability of medications through coordination with the hospital’s pharmaceutical facilities and medication stock management ahead of the Eid holiday period. In this manner, the availability of essential medications can be maintained during the Eid holiday for patients with chronic diseases,” she concluded.
