Home Affairs Minister: President Adds Rp10.6 Trillion in TKD to Three Provinces
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Home Affairs, who also chairs the Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Post-Disaster Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, said President Prabowo Subianto has provided an additional regional transfer funds (TKD) of Rp10.6 trillion to three provinces affected by disasters in the Sumatra region. ‘The aim is for the regions to be able to handle disaster relief according to their capacity. Those unable to cope will be handled by the centre,’ Tito said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. Of the total Rp10.6 trillion, allocations to each region vary: for Aceh Province about Rp1.6 trillion; for North Sumatra Province Rp6.3 trillion; and for West Sumatra Province Rp2.6 trillion. Tito delivered this explanation after the event ‘Handing Over Heirs’ Compensation for Hydrometeorological Disaster Victims and Socialisation of the TKD Addition for 2026 for Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces, held hybrid at MTQ Building Pidie Jaya, Aceh. The TKD addition is a realisation of a proposal by the Minister of Home Affairs to the President and the DPR. This step is intended to accelerate post-disaster recovery. The President subsequently decided that the addition would not only be given to areas directly affected by disasters; but rather to all regencies/cities and provinces in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh, including those not affected. ‘He (the President) decided to provide to all, whether affected or not at provincial level, because it is regarded as a provincial disaster,’ the Minister said. Tito said the President asked that the additional budget be used to accelerate disaster recovery. For areas not affected, the budget can be used to support mitigation or disaster prevention programmes, such as repairing bridges or dams deemed vulnerable to impact. ‘This also includes for spatial planning management, for example, training for disaster management. In fact, I have created opportunities for use in addressing inflation,’ he added.
