Home Affairs Minister (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian, who chairs the Sumatra Disaster Recovery Acceleration Task Force, revealed that the government has approved a budget of Rp100.16 trillion for permanent post-disaster recovery in Sumatra.

He stated that Sumatra’s rehabilitation and reconstruction has now entered its third phase, permanent recovery, following the emergency response and transition phases. The government, he added, has prepared a master plan for the development after compiling data from all affected regions.

“The budget we proposed has been approved by the government, and we reported this to the DPR RI Task Force chaired by Professor Sufmi Dasco Ahmad,” Tito said after attending the task force meeting at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Monday.

“In 2026, the total will be Rp38.9 trillion, followed by Rp32.9 trillion in 2027 and Rp28.2 trillion in 2028, amounting to approximately Rp100.1 trillion,” he said.

According to him, the budget is allocated across relevant ministries, with the largest share going to the Ministry of Public Works for infrastructure development.

He explained that the Master Plan has annual priorities, with a total of 11,512 development activities including roads, bridges, schools, and permanent housing.

“The final priority, such as rivers that only need minor work, will be addressed in 2027,” he said.
