Home Affairs Minister Checks Progress of 3 Million Houses Programme in Tomohon
We know that this housing programme is one of President Prabowo’s flagship initiatives. It is a priority programme. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian conducted inspections in several regions to ensure that the 3 Million Houses Programme for low-income communities (MBR), which is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship programmes, runs optimally across all areas. “We know that this housing programme is one of President Prabowo’s flagship initiatives. It is a priority programme,” Tito stated in Jakarta on Saturday. Tito made this statement after directly reviewing the people’s housing programme in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi (Sulut). The inspection site was at the Subsidised Landed Housing of Grazia Residence 2 Tomohon. In a solemn atmosphere, the Home Affairs Minister and his entourage held direct dialogues with the residents and owners of the housing. It is known that the owner of the housing is national badminton athlete Greysia Polii. Tito said that he, along with the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PKP), had toured several regions to socialise the three million houses programme. He hoped that similar steps could be followed by local governments (Pemda) to support the programme’s implementation. From a regulatory perspective, the Home Affairs Minister explained that the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has issued regulations requiring local governments to waive building permits (PBG) and land and building acquisition duties (BPHTB) free of charge for low-income communities (MBR). These regulations are expected to facilitate the provision of housing for MBR as well as for developers. The Home Affairs Minister added that regions need to help succeed the programme’s implementation through licensing ease at Public Service Malls (MPP). In this way, more and more people will be encouraged to own decent housing. On the other hand, the Home Affairs Minister is convinced that the implementation of this housing programme will provide a multiplier effect on the regional economy. This is because actors in that sector will be driven by the economic impact generated. In addition, indirectly, it will also spur an increase in Regional Original Revenue (PAD). “This is what is called a creative breakthrough win-win. Everyone benefits. I think that’s it,” he said.
