HIMKI Records 300 Million US Dollar Furniture Transactions at IFEX 2026
IFEX continues to develop into a global business platform that brings together Indonesian furniture producers with international buyers.
Jakarta — The Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Industry Association (HIMKI) recorded that the value of transactions for furniture products from the domestic industry at the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2026 reached 300 million US dollars.
HIMKI Chairman Abdul Sobur stated in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday that this achievement demonstrates the strong global market interest in furniture and handicraft products from Indonesia.
During the exhibition held in BSD Tangerang, Banten, from 5–8 March, the association recorded the attendance of international buyers and visitors totalling 13,437 people, who achieved sales of up to 300 million US dollars, or approximately 5 trillion rupiah.
“IFEX continues to develop into a global business platform that brings Indonesian furniture producers together with international buyers. The enthusiasm of visitors and this year’s transaction achievements demonstrate that Indonesian furniture has strong competitiveness in the global market,” said Sobur.
Through this exhibition, local producers ranging from large companies to small and medium-sized enterprises gained the opportunity to expand their business networks, increase exports, and introduce the richness of Indonesian design and craftsmanship to the world market.
Beyond promoting growth in the furniture industry, the IFEX exhibition also provided multiplier effects for other sectors such as logistics, hospitality, and transport.
He noted that China was recorded as the country with the largest number of buyers attending IFEX 2026. This was followed by the European Union, Australia, the United States, India, Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia. Overall, buyers from 86 countries participated in the exhibition.
Furniture products made from natural materials such as stone, solid wood, and fibres were among the most sought-after. This trend aligns with increasing property owner preferences for wellness living concepts that create comfortable, peaceful residential environments close to nature.
Going forward, the handicraft industry association is committed to continuously improving the quality of the IFEX exhibition to align with other major furniture exhibitions globally.
“We believe the industry will continue to grow in the future. So there are still many opportunities we can pursue to increase export value. This must of course be accompanied by improvements in product quality in terms of design, sustainability, marketing, and so forth. And most importantly is promotional efforts through exhibitions like IFEX that are increasingly sought after by international buyers,” said Sobur.
