Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in One Neighbourhood and One Road in Jakarta on Saturday Night
JAKARTA - Heavy rain that lashed the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings on Saturday (4/4/2026) night caused one neighbourhood (RT) and one road to be inundated by flooding.
The water level (TMA) at the Angke Hulu Monitoring Post was also at Alert Level 2.
“BPBD records that there is currently one RT and one road that is flooded,” said the Head of the Data and Disaster Information Centre of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Mohamad Yohan, when contacted by Kompas.com on Saturday night.
According to Yohan, the inundation was caused by high rainfall accompanied by overflow from the Angke River.
Meanwhile, BPBD also recorded one road that is flooded, namely Jalan Ciledug Raya (Kebayoran Park), Ulujami Ward, South Jakarta.
The water height at the location was reported to reach 40 centimetres.
In addition to the points that are still flooded, Yohan mentioned that flooding in several other areas has receded.
Locations that have receded include Pela Mampang Ward with 9 RTs and Bangka Ward with 1 RT.
“BPBD is deploying personnel to monitor the inundation conditions in every area and coordinate with the Water Resources Agency, Road Infrastructure Agency, and Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency to carry out inundation pumping,” said Yohan.
In addition, officers are also ensuring that water barriers function properly together with the local ward heads and district heads, as well as preparing basic needs for survivors.
BPBD DKI targets the inundation to recede quickly.
Yohan also urged the public to remain alert to the potential for inundation that could occur due to high-intensity rain.
“In an emergency, immediately contact the telephone number 112. This service is free and operates 24 hours,” said Yohan.
“BPBD records that until Saturday (04/04) at 14:00 WIB, all inundations in the DKI Jakarta area have receded. This happened thanks to collaborative efforts by related regional agencies,” said Yohan.
