Jakarta — State Minister for Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini inspected the readiness of healthcare services at Dharmais Cancer Hospital in Jakarta to ensure essential public services remain available, operate optimally, and are easily accessible during the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 2026 holidays.

Rini stated that the Lebaran holiday period represents a time of exceptionally high public mobility. Essential public service facilities, including healthcare services, must remain prepared to deliver the best services to the public.

“Following the President’s directive, the government proactively wishes to ensure that service facilities, service systems, and the readiness of healthcare workers and support staff are in a condition to provide fast, responsive, high-quality services tailored to public needs,” said Minister Rini in Jakarta on Monday.

As the National Cancer Centre, Dharmais Cancer Hospital serves patients from various regions across Indonesia. Many cancer patients undergo continuous therapy such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and routine check-ups that cannot be interrupted even during national holidays.

Dharmais Cancer Hospital is also mandated by the Ministry of Health to oversee regional hospitals in cancer treatment.

“Consequently, during the Lebaran holiday period, Dharmais Cancer Hospital is expected to guarantee the readiness of equitable service distribution in cancer treatment not only at the centre, but also in the regions,” she said.

During her visit to Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Rini, together with Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, reviewed the patient service process, from registration to medical services.

The inspection also focused on the readiness of key services such as the Emergency Department, inpatient services, and cancer therapy services.

Rini also checked the readiness of healthcare workers, service facilities and infrastructure, as well as the availability of service information to the public, including service standards and complaint mechanisms.

She stated that the government understands that healthcare service needs do not recognise time, including during long holidays such as Eid al-Fitr. Therefore, it is important for all healthcare service providers to ensure services remain available so that the public continues to have access to healthcare services when needed.

As the leading sector in delivering healthcare services, the Ministry of Health is expected to regularly ensure that healthcare service governance and management during major religious holidays remain consistent with public service principles.

At the same occasion, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasised that medical services in all hospitals under the Ministry of Health will continue to operate despite some operational adjustments during the Lebaran holiday.

Emergency services such as stroke patients, CT scan procedures, and operations for bleeding cases will continue operating fully.

“During this extended holiday, in line with the President’s direction, we will continue operating for emergency procedures. Those of an emergency or life-saving nature will operate at full capacity,” Budi stated firmly.

Nevertheless, the Health Minister revealed that the Ministry of Health will make adjustments to elective or scheduled medical procedures during the period 20-23 March 2026. Elective procedures are medical interventions that have been scheduled and are non-emergency in nature, such as routine medical procedures or previously scheduled therapy.

“So the task of hospital directors under the Ministry of Health is to readjust the number of human resources needed to carry out scheduled, elective or non-emergency procedures, as there may be higher service volumes on the day before or the day after,” said the Health Minister.
