Head of National Nutrition Agency Requests Attorney General's Office to Deploy Official to Strengthen Free Nutritious Meal Programme Oversight
Jakarta — The head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has requested support from the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) to strengthen oversight of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), including by deploying an official from the institution to work within BGN.
This request was made by Dadan following a meeting with Attorney General ST Burhanuddin at the Attorney General’s Office building in Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
“I am also requesting that a component from the Attorney General’s Office be assigned to serve as one of the officials at the National Nutrition Agency, to strengthen the BGN team at the central level,” said Dadan at the Kejagung building on Tuesday.
For the initial phase, BGN has proposed one official position. However, Dadan declined to reveal the identity of the official being requested from the Attorney General’s Office.
“I will announce it after the person is sworn in,” he said.
BGN also intends to enhance oversight of the MBG programme’s implementation at regional level. Dadan explained that the substantial budget allocation is the primary reason for strengthening the oversight system.
“As is known, 93 per cent of the National Nutrition Agency’s budget is channelled towards government assistance for nutritious meals,” he stated.
Currently, said Dadan, there are more than 25,000 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) operating across various regions. Each SPPG receives an average of up to Rp 1 billion per month, and even higher amounts in areas with high logistics costs such as Papua.
Dadan emphasised that this collaboration is preventive in nature, designed to prevent budget deviations.
“It is preventive. To prevent misconduct. We aim for all partners to work as optimally and carefully as possible. Since oversight is now being conducted jointly by the public, internal BGN components, the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and now also the Attorney General’s Office,” he explained.
