Head of National Food Agency and Agriculture Minister: Chilli and chicken meat prices begin to decline
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) and Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that prices for red chilli and chicken meat are beginning to decline as supply improves and government stabilisation measures take effect across various regions.
“Alhamdulillah, the prices of red chilli and chicken meat are showing a downward trend. This is the fruit of collective effort, both from the supply side and distribution oversight,” Amran said during a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
He conveyed that the price trend for these two strategic food commodities — red chilli and chicken meat — demonstrated significant national decline.
He noted that based on data from the Food Price Panel managed by Bapanas for the period from 23 February to 1 March 2026, red chilli prices showed quite a significant downward trend.
“This trend shows consistent price correction that tends to level off heading into early March,” he said.
Meanwhile, chicken meat prices remained relatively stable with a downward tendency. On 23 February 2026, the price stood at IDR 41,293 per kilogramme and gradually declined to IDR 40,767 per kilogramme on 1 March 2026, representing a correction of approximately 1.27 per cent.
This pattern showed that chicken meat prices remained stable with controlled fluctuations.
