Head of BGN prioritises motorbikes for MBG distribution in rural areas
Bogor Regency (ANTARA) - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that his agency is prioritising the use of motorbikes to support the distribution of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in rural areas and regions with difficult terrain. “Motorbikes, because we will prioritise areas with challenging terrain,” Dadan said after inaugurating the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Citaringgul, Babakanmadang Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday. He mentioned that there are currently around 21,800 motorbike units prioritised to support food distribution from SPPG to beneficiaries in various regions. “Because there are about 21,800 motorbikes, while the SPPG we have built number more than 28,000. So, we focus on those areas,” he said. Dadan stated that rural areas in Bogor Regency are also a priority for strengthening MBG programme distribution, including areas with difficult road access unreachable by four-wheeled vehicles. “Perhaps Bogor, South Bogor, in rural areas,” he said. He explained that food distribution is currently carried out gradually, adjusted to field conditions. In some locations, transport vehicles can only reach certain points before the food is continued using carts to schools. “Meanwhile, the vehicles go up to the front. From the front to here using carts, I think it can be done because it’s not too far,” Dadan said. According to him, this distribution system has so far been running optimally, because the distance between SPPG and beneficiary schools is relatively close. “So far, because it’s not too far from the SPPG,” he said. Dadan added that there are currently 28,390 SPPG units across Indonesia that have served around 62 million MBG programme beneficiaries. “Alhamdulillah, today we inaugurated the SPPG in Citaringgul and the 14th SPPG in Babakan Madang Subdistrict,” he said.
