The head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, has firmly stated that the agency has never prohibited citizens, including parents of students, from posting menus from the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) on social media.

This clarification was issued by Dadan following the circulation of incorrect information claiming that BGN would prosecute citizens under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE) if they posted MBG menus.

“I would actually be pleased if everyone posted MBG menus on social media, because that is part of collective oversight,” said Dadan in Jakarta on Tuesday (3 March).

He confirmed that the circulating narrative never came from his statements or official agency policy. Dadan believed the misinformation had created misunderstandings amongst the public and needed to be corrected immediately.

According to Dadan, public participation in documenting and sharing menus received by students actually helps BGN monitor the quality of service provided by Nutrition Services Units (SPPG) across various regions, as transparency is an important element in ensuring the programme’s quality standards are maintained.

“Public posts make it easier for us at central BGN to see the quality of SPPG services. That becomes direct feedback for our evaluation,” he said.

Dadan also stressed that he personally has never issued threats of prosecution against parents or any party sharing information related to MBG menus. He urged the public not to easily believe fragmented information from unclear sources.

“So I personally have never spoken like that. There is no BGN policy prohibiting the public from posting MBG menus,” said Dadan.
