Head of BGN Denies Claims of Free Nutritious Meals Programme Halting After Eid, Says It Will Be Expanded Instead
JAKARTA - Dadan Hindayana, head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), has stated that claims regarding the termination of the Free Nutritious Meals programme (MBG) after Eid al-Fitr 2026 are unfounded.
Dadan stated that the MBG programme will continue indefinitely and there has never been any policy or directive to halt the programme after Eid al-Fitr.
“The BGN confirms that the programme will continue and be expanded following Eid al-Fitr. There has never been any policy or directive to terminate the MBG programme after the Eid al-Fitr holiday,” Dadan said in a statement on Monday, 3 March 2026.
Dadan emphasised that information circulating on various digital platforms does not originate from official government statements.
According to Dadan, the MBG programme is entering a phase of significant service expansion following Eid al-Fitr.
The number of Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) is targeted to increase dramatically to 25,000 units spread across various regions.
“The number of SPPG will reach 25,000 after Eid al-Fitr and will serve more than 61.2 million beneficiaries,” Dadan said.
This step is being taken to maintain service quality whilst ensuring optimal nutritional intake for beneficiaries.
“We are returning to fresh menus to improve service quality and ensure optimal nutritional benefits for beneficiaries,” Dadan stressed.
