Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Special Development Control and Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aries Marsudiyanto, has urged academics and observers to voice criticism of the government in a proper manner.

Speaking to the media at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, Aries stated that President Prabowo Subianto is always open to communication and discussion on existing issues.

“I hope that all national elites at this time, especially academics and observers, the President is always open to communication, democracy, and discussion,” Aries said.

“Please voice your criticisms in a good manner,” Aries added.

He highlighted the difference between criticism, insults, and provocation, suggesting that criticism should be delivered constructively.

Furthermore, Aries invited all parties to remain united, as Indonesia continues to strive to strengthen economic growth amid various international dynamics, such as the conflict in the Middle East.

On that occasion, Aries also pointed out that President Prabowo continues to conduct discussions and evaluations of ongoing programmes.

Their implementation has proceeded well, as evidenced by Indonesia’s economic growth reaching 5.61 per cent in the first quarter of 2026.

“This has already been announced by the Central Statistics Agency; our year-on-year economic growth is 5.61 per cent. This means all of the President’s programmes up to now have run well and smoothly, alhamdulillah,” Aries said.

Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced that Indonesia’s economic growth reached 5.61 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year.

In a press conference on Tuesday, BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti explained that household consumption remains the main contributor to economic growth, with a contribution of 2.94 per cent.

This was followed by the gross fixed capital formation component with growth of 1.79 per cent, and government consumption contributing 1.26 per cent.
