Head of Bappenas: Energy Transition Must Focus on Implementation
The Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, stated that the next phase of Indonesia’s energy transition must focus on implementation.
“Every major energy policy must have a clear project pathway. Every project pathway must have a financing pathway, and every investment must contribute directly to our national development priorities,” he said during the Indonesia Sustainable Energy Week (ISEW) 2026 agenda, according to an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
On this occasion, he emphasised the importance of accelerating the implementation of Indonesia’s energy transition by strengthening projects, financing, and investments that align with national development priorities.
Therefore, through ISEW 2026, which serves as the primary platform for Indonesia–Germany energy cooperation, it is hoped that the quality of cooperation between the two nations will increase to become more oriented towards investment and project implementation.
Existing cooperation has reportedly contributed to strengthening policies, increasing institutional capacity, providing technical assistance, and developing dialogue among stakeholders to support Indonesia’s energy transition agenda.
“The next generation of cooperation between Indonesia and Germany must move from knowledge to investment, from studies to projects, and from policy dialogue to implementation on the ground,” the Minister of PPN stated.
Rachmat Pambudy also invited Indonesia and Germany to continue strengthening cooperation in driving mutual growth and realising a greener world as part of the effort to build a better and more sustainable future.
“The energy transition is not only part of the effort to reduce emissions, but can also become a new engine for industrialisation, strengthen energy security, create new economic opportunities across Indonesia, and support Indonesia’s transformation towards 2045 in a faster, more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable manner,” he said.
In line with this, Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Reem Alabali-Radovan, expressed the German government’s commitment to continue supporting the development of environmentally oriented investments.
This commitment is expected to further strengthen the established cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in supporting sustainable development and the energy transition.
