Congratulations on your vice presidential candidacy, Pak
Hasyim Muzadi. In this way, you are prepared to bear the heavy
burden of putting this muddled country in order and restoring its
international role.

In my view, Pak Hasyim Muzadi, you should resign as chairman
of the central board of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), so that you can
concentrate more on handling state affairs. The NU should be left
to other senior clerics, who I believe are capable of leading
this organization.

Experience has shown that leaders serving a double function
has resulted to failure because they have had to split their
attention. As you have chosen to be a public official, you should
belong to the nation instead of a certain association or party.
So, please give up your present position.
