Hashim Pledges Priority Housing Access for Junior Civil Servants
Jakarta — Hashim Djojohadikusumo, head of the Housing Task Force, has pledged to prioritise housing access for all civil servants (ASN), particularly junior-level staff who have not yet secured accommodation. This commitment was announced during the inauguration of vertical residential development at Manggarai Station in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.
“In addition to PT Kereta Api Indonesia (the national railway company), I have already promised that all civil servants, especially junior ASN who have not yet obtained housing, must also receive priority. This is not limited to the Transport Ministry, but extends to civil servants from other ministries as well. We must be fair,” Hashim stated.
The government is currently developing public housing programmes at Manggarai Station and simultaneously conducting similar projects in Semarang, Bandung, and Surabaya.
Hashim also instructed the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono to increase the planned number of storeys for the vertical residential development from 12 to 24 levels.
“I see it says 12 storeys here. I told the Coordinating Minister that if possible, we should aim for 24 storeys,” Hashim said. “From a technical perspective, land is limited, but if we can achieve 24 storeys—I recall that Meikarta and Kampung Bandar both have 24 storeys—I believe we should direct the architects to reconsider. With 24 storeys instead of the current design, we might be able to double the 2,200 units currently planned.”
