Hajj Queue-Free Scam Methods, Deputy Minister: Everyone Must Queue, Maximum 26 Years
Jakarta - The Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah (Wamenhaj) of Indonesia, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, has warned Hajj pilgrims about various scam methods that lure them with promises of T-Nil Hajj departures or zero-year queues. Dahnil stated that warnings about these scam tactics have been repeatedly issued, especially ahead of the Hajj pilgrimage, which will begin with departures on 22 April 2026. “To the pilgrims in Indonesia who wish to perform Hajj, the legal route is, of course, to register. Second, there is the special Hajj route. So, there are only those two. Whether regular Hajj or non-regular, that’s special Hajj. There is no T-Nil Hajj,” said Dahnil at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah office in Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (9/4/2026). However, according to regulations in Indonesia, pilgrims must wait for departure times of 26 years for regular Hajj and six years for special Hajj. “Hajj definitely involves queuing in our current context; Hajj definitely queues. The longest now is 26 years; previously, there were those waiting 49 or 48 years, but now it’s 26 years. For special Hajj, the longest is around six years,” he said. “Now, the President wants us to think about how to make Hajj without queuing. So, Hajj without queues. That’s what we’re formulating, which was also conveyed by the Minister last night,” he added. “In the past, Hajj didn’t require queuing; before BPKH, no one queued. Why do we queue now? Because there were issues with Hajj finances,” he explained.
