Hajj Pilgrims from PPU in Good Health as Peak Rituals Approach
The physical health of Hajj pilgrims from Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) in East Kalimantan is reported to be stable as they approach the peak rituals. The Armuzna phase (Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina), the climax of the Hajj, is scheduled from Monday (25 May) until 30 May 2026, corresponding to 8-13 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH.
Bud Atmaja, Acting Head of the PPU Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemehaj) office, told Media Indonesia on Monday (25 May) that, based on reports from the Indonesian Hajj Support Team (PPHI) in PPU, all pilgrims from the region in Sector 8 are in good health and fully prepared for the Armuzna rituals.
‘Alhamdulillah, all PPU pilgrims under Balikpapan’s Sector 8 are in good health and ready to perform the Armuzna rites,’ he said.
He added that the PPHI and health teams have organised movement schedules and provided detailed preparation guidelines for all pilgrims, ensuring they are ready for the rituals.
‘All pilgrims are reminded to bring essential supplies for five or six days, including sufficient clothing, medications and vitamins, at least three bottles of oral rehydration solution, and personal protective items such as umbrellas, hats, and sunglasses,’ he explained.
The pilgrims will perform ihram and its associated rituals, recite the talbiyah, and perform obligatory prayers on the Day of Tarwiyah in shortened form (qasr), without combining them. They will also listen to the Arafah sermon and engage in collective dhikr.
‘They will also carry out other rituals, always accompanied by PPHI and health teams,’ Budi stressed.
Additionally, the PPHI has conducted briefings on Ready-to-Eat (RTE) meal boxes for Sector 8 in Makkah, which Indonesian pilgrims will consume before and after the Armuzna phase.
Budi previously stated that the total number of PPU Hajj pilgrims has reached 157, including four additional standby pilgrims who have been confirmed for departure. They are part of kloters 4, 8, 14, 15, and 17.
‘Although 157 departed, one pilgrim passed away in Mecca—Haru Rusdi Noto Siswoyo, 71, from Sepaku District, in kloter 8—and his body has been buried there,’ he concluded.
