Hajj News: 10 Deceased, 12,000 Pilgrims Undergo Outpatient Treatment in Saudi Arabia
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Religious Affairs has once again reported on Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. In Wednesday’s update, quoted on Thursday (7/5/2026), health services for pilgrims continue to be enhanced during this 1447 Hijriah Hajj season.
It should be noted that, in general, the departure, arrival, and movement of pilgrims between cities in Saudi Arabia are proceeding smoothly, orderly, and under the supervision of officials at all service points. As of 5 May 2026, 250 batches with 97,139 pilgrims and 996 staff have departed from Indonesia.
Meanwhile, 239 batches with 92,739 pilgrims and 952 staff have arrived in Medina and are accommodated in prepared facilities. The movement of pilgrims from Medina to Mecca is also continuing in stages, with 88 batches comprising 34,244 pilgrims and 352 staff having arrived in Mecca to perform the obligatory Umrah.
“All pilgrim movements are coordinated with official supervision. We ensure that every pilgrim receives safe, comfortable, and orderly services from departure to performing worship in the Holy Land,” said Ministry spokesperson Suci Annisa.
However, on the health services side, there are some notes. It is reported that 12,725 pilgrims are currently undergoing outpatient treatment.
Additionally, 144 pilgrims have been referred to KKHI. It is also reported that 232 pilgrims have been referred to Saudi Arabian hospitals, while 70 pilgrims are still undergoing treatment.
“On 5 May 2026, one pilgrim named Aen Soleh Salimar, from batch JKS 05 originating from Bogor Regency, passed away. Thus, the total number of deceased pilgrims to date is 10,” she added in the press statement.
“We convey our deepest condolences for the passing of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. The government will continue to ensure optimal health services, both in batches, sectors, and referral health facilities in Saudi Arabia,” she added.
Currently, temperatures in Medina and Mecca reach 37-39 degrees Celsius. Therefore, pilgrims are advised to maintain their physical condition well.
“We remind pilgrims to regulate activities according to their ability, get sufficient rest, and maintain fluid intake. Do not hesitate to report to health officials if experiencing complaints,” she said.
On the other hand, strengthening worship guidance services is a primary focus. To date, 29,497 pilgrims have obtained tasreh (permits) to enter the Raudhah, with an additional 341 permits issued on 5 May 2026.
Pilgrims are urged to use the Nusuk application to access entry services to the Raudhah according to the schedule. This is the official application to facilitate permitting.
“We continue to strengthen worship guidance services, including assistance for ill pilgrims and education on worship in sectors and health facilities. This is important so that pilgrims can worship correctly and in accordance with guidance,” she explained.
As part of strengthening pilgrim protection, the Ministry encourages the use of the Kawal Haji Application as a digital-based complaint channel. This application enables real-time reporting related to consumption, accommodation, transportation, health services, as well as reports of lost pilgrims or items.
“The Kawal Haji Application is an important instrument in ensuring responsive, transparent, and accountable services. We invite pilgrims and families to actively utilise it,” Suci emphasised.
