All over the globe models are jumping off the catwalks and going into music, literature, television, films and gossip columns.

Jamaican-born Naomi Campbell has started her career as a novelist, while Claudia Schiffer finds being a gossip columnist an interesting job.

Indonesian models have now followed the trend. Paquita is one example. The 25-year old model-designer has just released her debut album entitled Yang Perdana.

"I actually started my music career long before I became a model," Paquita said during a press meeting at Jamz last Thursday.

In l980, Paquita joined Shangrilla theater group. With the theater group, she released two records of children's songs.

In l990, Paquita attended modeling school in New York and took vocal training courses at the Julliard School of Music.

The Yang Perdana album involves a number of leading musicians including composer Titiek Hamzah, Lilo of KLA project, Raidy Noor and Coki Batubara. Film director Garin Nugroho is working on her video promotion.

Paquita also stars in Garin's latest film Bulan Tertusuk Ilalang.

"I hope that my album will enrich the country's music scene," smiling Paquita said. (raw)
