Guess What? Nadya Hutagalung
Model and TV presenter Nadya Hutagalung has something to tell hunters and others who prey on endangered animals.
Stop it.
"I just spoke (about conservation) last week in Singapore in an Asian forum which was held in cooperation with the Asian Conservation Awareness Program, the Singapore Zoo and the Indonesian community in Singapore," she said on Thursday in Jakarta when she attended the launching of A Mild Live, a weekly music TV show she will host.
Of course, she also cares about the fate of Indonesia's rare animals, such as the orangutan (she has done a Singapore public service message about the plight of the ape).
The winner of the 1997 Asian Television Award said she was looking for an organization to work with in Indonesia in campaigning for endangered species conservation programs.
Born in Sydney of an Indonesian father and Australian mother, Nadya lives in Singapore with her four-year-old son but remains a veejay for MTV US. She said she did not reside in Indonesia because it did not provide good career prospects.
But there are some things she misses, especially when it comes to matters of the stomach. She loves rendang (braised beef in coconut milk and spices, from West Sumatra) and other popular Indonesian traditional food. (Sri Ramadani)
