Guess What? Addie M. Sumaatmadja

"I am so glad to be selected as a participant of a prestigious
conducting workshop in the United States," gushed Addie M.
Sumaatmadja, more popularly known as Addie M.S.,
the conductor of the Twilite Orchestra.

The annual conducting workshop is organized by the American
Symphony Orchestra League in New York City and Los Angeles. This
year's workshop will involve 36 participants from all over the
world.

Since l985, the League has been sponsoring a series of
conducting workshops at numerous locations in the United States.
More than 650 orchestra conductors have been encouraged to grow
artistically and professionally at these workshops. Networking is
also a major aspect.

Outstanding conducting teachers and practitioners include
Andre Previn, Zubin Mehta, Gustav Meier, David Zimman and
Riccardo Mutti.

"I had to compete with the world's best-known conductors to
attend this workshop and I am scared because I don't have any
formal education in conducting," Addie said.

Addie will be required to master Beethoven's Symphony No.5 in
Minor, Prelude a l'Apres-midi d'un faune by Claude Debussy and
Symphony No.96 in D Major by Joseph Haydn.

"I'll do my best because I will be representing Indonesian
musicians," Addie promised. (raw)
