Gudang Garam's sales up

SURABAYA, East Java (JP): PT Gudang Garam, a publicly-listed
clove-blended cigarette manufacturer, expects net sales this year
of Rp 6.28 trillion (US$2.7 billion), a 12 percent increase from
Rp 5.5 trillion in 1995.

Djajusman Surjowijoyo, an executive of the East Java-based
company, said that net profits are projected to increase by 43
percent to Rp 525 billion this year from Rp 366.4 billion last
year.

Speaking to journalists following the company's annual
shareholders meeting, Djajusman said that Gudang Garam, which
booked a 47 percent increase in its net profits last year,
controlled around 47 percent of the country's cigarette market.
