Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno stated that the extent of green open space (RTH) in the capital currently reaches 3,703.56 hectares or 5.59 per cent, an increase compared to 2024, which was 3,446 hectares (5.3 per cent).

This increase is part of DKI Jakarta’s achievements related to environmental affairs in the Governor of DKI Jakarta’s Accountability Statement Report (LKPJ) for the 2025 Fiscal Year.

As is known, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) targets the expansion of RTH to 30 per cent of the total land area by 2045.

On that occasion, Rano also conveyed regarding the enhancement of city park functions, including through the 24-hour park programme and the integration of three parks, namely Taman Ayodya, Taman Leuser, and Taman Langsat into Taman Bendera Pusaka.

“A number of parks that are open for 24 hours have become venues for public activities that encourage a culture of social interaction among the community,” said Rano.

On the other hand, Jakarta’s environmental quality index is recorded at 55.28 per cent.

“There are improvements in the water quality index, land quality index, and seawater quality index,” revealed Rano.

Another achievement, he said, is the annual reduction in greenhouse gas (GRK) emissions to 26.96 per cent.

In addition, there is also an improvement in waste management with 100 per cent of waste managed, consisting of 30 per cent waste reduction and 70 per cent waste handling, with a handling system capacity of 5,280 tonnes per day.
