Green Harmony Bank, Riau Police Innovation That Captures the Attention of the Environment Minister
The involvement of the National Police in environmental issues represents genuine concern. This serves as a good example of how synergy between government, authorities, and society can create positive change,” stated Jumhur in a statement received by reporters on Tuesday (5/5/2026). According to him, Tabung Harmoni Hijau is not merely an ordinary greening programme, but a symbol of modern collaboration where law enforcement officers take the lead in solutions to the climate crisis and grassroots waste management. On that occasion, Jumhur, accompanied by Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan, also took the time to visit and observe waste management at the Muara Fajar Landfill in Pekanbaru City. Jumhur appreciated the Waste to Energy (WTE) concept resulting from the collaboration between Riau Police and the Pekanbaru City Government, developed at the Muara Fajar Landfill. Jumhur Hidayat emphasised that waste management must be carried out in an integrated manner and oriented towards long-term solutions. According to him, the WTE concept is one of the solutions to reducing waste. “Waste problems can no longer be handled with conventional methods. The waste to energy concept, as we see today, is one of the strategic solutions to reduce waste volume while producing energy that benefits society,” he said. Meanwhile, Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan conveyed the National Police’s commitment to supporting efforts to preserve the environment and sustainable waste management. “Riau Police is ready to fully support government policies in handling waste and protecting the environment. Through innovations like Tabung Harmoni Hijau, we aim to encourage public awareness to care more about the environment while creating productive and useful solutions,” said Inspector General Herry. The entourage also included, among others, the Minister’s Special Staff Laksmi, Acting Deputy for Waste, Hazardous and Toxic Waste Management Melda, and Director of Environmental Dispute Resolution Dodi Kurniawan. Meanwhile, the Police Chief was accompanied by the Head of Human Resources of Riau Police Commissioner Boy Jeckson Situmorang, Commander of the Mobile Brigade of Riau Police Commissioner I Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa, PKKM TK III of Riau Police, and Pekanbaru Police Chief Commissioner Muharman Arta. This visit was also attended by academic figure Rocky Gerung, representatives from the Riau Provincial Government, and elements of the Pekanbaru City Forkopimda, including Deputy Mayor of Pekanbaru Markarius Anwar.
