The murder case of a junior high school student identified by the initials STN (14) in Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has dragged the perpetrator’s family into the case. FRG’s grandfather, VS (67), and FRG’s father, SG (44), were named as suspects today by the Sikka Police Resort (Polres Sikka) in connection with alleged obstruction of the administration of justice. Subdivision head of Public Information and Public Relations (PIDM) Cyrillus Muda said the designation of suspects occurred after investigators found at least two pieces of sufficient evidence. He explained that VS is said to have helped lift STN’s body and move it to the hiding place. VS is also alleged to have hidden a parang (machete) used by FRG to kill the victim. “SG’s role was to urge FRG to hide STN’s guitar and to mobilise VS and FRG to move the corpse and conceal it further away,” Cyrillus Muda said when contacted by detikBali on Thursday (5/3/2026). “And from the investigation results, two or more pieces of evidence were obtained to name two suspects, VS and SG, in the case of alleged obstruction of the administration of justice as referred to in Article 278(1)(c) and/or (d) in conjunction with Article 20(d) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Penal Code,” he added. Cyrillus noted that the two suspects were secured by the Sikka Police’s Buser team in the Nebe and Maumere areas on Wednesday (4/3/2026) at around 04:00 WITA. They were questioned further in relation to developments in a case involving sexual intercourse with a child and child abuse resulting in death. Earlier, the tragedy occurred on Friday (20/2/2026) around 15:30 WITA. STN (14) went to the home of a relative identified by the initials FRG (16) to take a guitar. Head of the Sikka Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Reinhard Dionisius Siga, said the victim was actually invited to have intercourse by the perpetrator. The victim had threatened to report the act. “Tensions peaked when FRG seized the victim’s mobile phone, followed by physical contact between them. In a state of uncontrolled emotion, FRG used a machete previously used to split durians to savage the assault the victim, injuring her neck and head repeatedly until she died at the scene with very severe injuries. After confirming the victim was dead, FRG attempted to hide the body behind the house, covering it with talas leaves and bamboo, and, feeling unsafe, moved the body to a second location by the river and covered it with wood and leaves before ultimately fleeing to Ende. Based on the outcome of the case deliberation, investigators named FRG as a suspect and have detained him at the Sikka Police Detention Centre. “The charges applied include Article 473(2)(b) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Penal Code and Article 80(3) of Law No. 35 of 2014 on amendments to Law No. 23 of 2002 on Child Protection,” he added. Because FRG is still a minor, the investigative process is governed by Law No. 11 of 2012 on the Child Criminal Justice System (SPPA). The Sikka Police, via the Buser Team, moved quickly and secured FRG in Ende Regency before being brought to the Sikka Police for further legal proceedings. Investigators have issued sprindik and springas and have questioned seven witnesses. Several exhibits have been seized, including sandals belonging to both the victim and the offender, as well as wood used to cover the victim’s body. Police are still seeking main exhibits such as the parang, clothes, and the victim’s mobile phone. The examination of forensic medical experts will also be conducted before the case file is forwarded to the Sikka District Prosecutor’s Office. “Law enforcement in this case aims to deliver justice for the deceased and her family, and to serve as a stern warning that acts of violence in any form have no place in our society. We hope the public remains calm and fully entrusts this process to the police,” he concluded.
