Grab and GoTo's Response to Ojol Fee Cuts Being Reduced to 8 Percent
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Grab Indonesia and PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) have responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s policy reducing the fee deduction for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers to platforms from the previous 20 percent to 8 percent.
The provision is regulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers.
Grab Indonesia’s Chief Executive Officer, Neneng Goenadi, stated that the company respects the directive conveyed by President Prabowo and is committed to supporting the government’s vision in improving public welfare.
“Currently, we are still awaiting the official issuance of the Presidential Regulation so that we can review and study the details of the directive further,” Neneng said in an official statement on Friday (1/5/2026).
She assessed that the proposed change in commission structure represents a fundamental shift in how digital platforms function as marketplaces.
“We will collaborate with the government and relevant stakeholders to endeavour to implement this change,” she said.
Meanwhile, GoTo’s President Director, Hans Patuwo, stated that the company will comply with government regulations regarding the protection of online transportation workers, including the new provisions in Perpres No. 27 of 2026.
“GoTo always complies with government regulations, including the directive conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto regarding the protection of online transportation workers as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026,” Hans said in an official statement.
He stated that GoTo would first examine the regulation to understand the details and various necessary adjustments.
“Currently, we will conduct a review to understand the details, implications, and necessary adjustments in accordance with the regulation,” Hans said.
He added that GoTo would continue to coordinate with the government and relevant stakeholders regarding regulations in the online transportation sector so that the company can continue to provide sustainable benefits to society, particularly driver partners and customers.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto, during the 2026 International Labour Day commemoration at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026), announced that the ojol driver fee deduction would be reduced to 8 percent.
The issuance of Perpres 27/2026 regulating the provision was described as one of the gifts for workers on the 2026 World Labour Day commemoration.
“The income distribution was previously 80 percent for drivers, now it becomes a minimum of 92 percent for drivers,” Prabowo said.
On that occasion, Prabowo also requested that ojol drivers receive several social safety nets, such as work accident insurance, BPJS Health, and health insurance.
“They must be given work accident insurance, will be provided with BPJS Health, health insurance,” Prabowo stated.
