Govt asked to scrub fees in trading

JAKARTA: The City Council has requested the Jakarta administration to eliminate fees for business trading permits.

"In line with the central government's policy of not burdening entrepreneurs with too many fees, it would be better if the Jakarta administration just eliminated them," said Nurmansjah Lubis of the council's Commission B on economic affairs.

He added that the City Industry and Trade Agency should try to meet its own maximum time limit of 14 days for issuing permits for industrial businesses, and five days for issuing permits for trading activities.

Currently, the administration requires fees of between Rp 50,000 (US$5.62) and Rp 250,000 to obtain permits for trading activities or warehouses, Rp 300,000 for industrial businesses and Rp 200,000 for a business expansion permit. -- Antara
