JAKARTA — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that staple food prices in Jakarta remain relatively stable ahead of Idul Fitri. According to Pramono, based on government monitoring, most staple food prices in Jakarta, including in the Thousand Islands, remain under control.

“As we know, all prices are currently well monitored. Looking at all the prices across the Thousand Islands and the five cities on the mainland, prices are relatively stable,” said Pramono during an inspection of the implementation of an affordable market bazaar as part of his Ramadhan outreach in the Thousand Islands region on Friday, 13 March 2026.

“Among all the prices that have risen, what somewhat surprised me is curly chilli. It rose by three percent. Everything else has only risen by one or two percent,” he said.

Pramono considered the increase to be within reasonable bounds and not particularly significant compared to other commodities.

He also noted that the affordable market bazaar programme implemented by the Jakarta provincial government in cooperation with regional state-owned enterprises (BUMD) has proven effective in helping residents obtain essential goods at more affordable prices.

In the activity, the government provided approximately 1,000 subsidised food packages.

“The programme carried out by the Jakarta provincial government in cooperation with BUMD to provide these affordable market packages is very effective,” said Pramono.
