National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, together with the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, directly inspected the security and public order situation during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H return flow at Bakauheni Port on Saturday, 28 March 2026. Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal accompanied the inspection to ensure the smooth, safe, and comfortable passage of the public. In a press conference, the National Police Chief stated that the peak of the 2026 Lebaran return flow has generally passed smoothly. Data shows that the volume of vehicles leaving Jakarta reached 2.9 million units, an increase of 20.49 percent from normal conditions. Meanwhile, 2.5 million vehicles have returned to Jakarta. Specifically, 2,561,629 vehicles have re-entered Jakarta, leaving about 13.7 percent of vehicles still en route in the return flow. “Overall, we have passed the peak of the return flow, with only a small portion still moving. Hopefully, the entire public can return home safely,” said the National Police Chief. The National Police Chief also revealed increases across various modes of transportation. For rail transport, there were 3,047,676 passengers, up 7.84 percent from the previous year. Air transport increased by 6.27 percent with around 4.12 million passengers. Meanwhile, land transport rose 13.3 percent, and other modes increased by 13.89 percent. From a safety perspective, traffic accident figures fell 7.8% compared to last year. There was also a significant decrease in fatalities (deaths), from 377 to 265. “This demonstrates the hard work of all parties and the increasing public awareness in traffic conduct,” he said. Specifically at Bakauheni Port, the National Police Chief assessed that traffic engineering and service systems, from ticketing to queue management, operated optimally, keeping the situation in the green category (normal). Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi appreciated the synergy between the Indonesian National Police, Indonesian National Armed Forces, and local government. Although about 30 percent of the return flow movement remains, all control scenarios have been thoroughly prepared. “Up to today, the implementation of the homecoming and return flow has gone well,” he said. For the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing, the government has prepared several strategic measures such as buffer zones, additional ships, and operational system arrangements to ease congestion. Transportation Ministry personnel, continued Dudy, will coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works to evaluate toll road access points to anticipate potential congestion due to surges in vehicle volume. Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal appreciated the National Police Chief’s strategic steps in maintaining conducive conditions in Lampung. He emphasised that Bakauheni Port plays a vital role in national mobility, making cross-sector coordination key to success. He assured that the Lampung Provincial Government, together with all relevant parties, continues to synergise to ensure optimal public services. During the inspection, the entourage also checked integrated service posts, queue areas, and directly dialogued with travellers and field officers. This year’s successful management proves the strength of synergy between central and local government, as well as the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police, in realising a safe and smooth homecoming flow.
