TANJUNG SELOR – The Governor of North Kalimantan, Dr. H. Zainal A. Paliwang, S.H., M.Hum, received a visit from PT Reksa Inti Teknologi to present an investment proposal for the development of a palm oil cooking oil factory in North Kalimantan, held in the Governor’s Office conference room on Friday (27 February).

During the meeting, Governor Zainal expressed strong optimism regarding the planned construction of a cooking oil factory in North Kalimantan, noting that the region’s raw material potential was substantial.

“The potential is considerable. We have sufficient raw materials from 20 palm oil mills already operating in North Kalimantan,” the Governor stated.

He confirmed full support for the investor and encouraged the development to be realised promptly, with operations commencing in 2027.

“If the process is expedited, we can quickly produce our own cooking oil,” he remarked.

Zainal also reminded the investor to ensure from the outset that the land used is unencumbered and possesses clear legal status. He recommended that land be purchased formally to avoid complications later.

Once the land is declared legitimate, Zainal assured that he would coordinate with the National Land Agency (BPN) to accelerate the factory land certification process.

Beyond the cooking oil factory development, he encouraged the investor to develop derivative industries such as soap factories and similar products.

According to him, the presence of these industries would subsequently create employment opportunities for North Kalimantan’s local workforce and drive regional economic growth.

Zainal hoped that all licensing documentation would be prepared promptly and coordinated with relevant regional agencies, including the Investment and Integrated One-Stop Service Office (DPMPTSP) and the Environmental Affairs Office (DLH) for the Environmental Impact Analysis (Amdal) process.

“I want this development to move quickly. This will have a significant impact on North Kalimantan’s economy,” he concluded.
