Government targets Rp53 trillion in transactions for BINA Lebaran 2026
Jakarta – The government is targeting transactions of Rp53 trillion at the Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Lebaran 2026 event, which runs from 6 to 30 March 2026. ‘I’m monitoring the BINA Lebaran target at Rp53 trillion, up 20 per cent from last year’s BINA Lebaran (2025),’ Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said at the programme launch in Jakarta on Friday. Hartarto said BINA Lebaran is expected to help spur domestic consumption and national economic activity in the first quarter of 2026, particularly as it coincides with Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. ‘We hope this will continuously boost domestic consumption. Furthermore, we hope this momentum can push economic growth in Q1. We must lift Q1 growth, and we hope it will be higher than last year,’ he said. Hartarto noted that economic growth in Q1 2025 was relatively low, at 4.87 per cent year-on-year from the same period in 2024. ‘Last year growth was somewhat low. We have also seen inflation relatively high because last year there was deflation, due to a 50 per cent subsidy for electricity; without this, inflation would have risen against other bases, and so would economic growth,’ he said. Hartarto hopes that with various stimulus for workers, religious holiday allowances (THR), and supported by shopping programmes like BINA Lebaran 2026, the government’s target of 5.5 per cent growth in Q1 2026 can be achieved. ‘We hope this first quarter can reach 5.5 per cent. And I see from HIPPINDO (Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Centre Tenants Association) and APPBI (Indonesian Shopping Centre Management Association) that sales are also expected to rise, thereby enabling Indonesia to push for higher growth in 2026,’ Hartarto said. Meanwhile, BINA Lebaran 2026 will run from 6–30 March 2026 at more than 400 APPBI member shopping centres across Indonesia, including outlets at stations and airports. The programme offers a variety of promotions and activations to boost people’s visits to shopping centres.
