Jakarta — Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu outlined the role of investment in supporting President Prabowo Subianto's target of achieving 8% economic growth. Over the next five years, the government is targeting approximately Rp13,000 trillion in investment.

"Over the next five years, as we all know, we have a figure of Rp13,000 trillion when it comes to investment realisation. Not investment plans, but investment realisation," he said during a Public Consultation event at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM in Jakarta on Thursday (3/7/2025).

The figure represents a significant increase compared to the 10-year period under the seventh President, Joko Widodo. Todotua noted that investment realisation during that period totalled approximately Rp9,900 trillion.

"If during the previous 10 years of government, investment realisation reached approximately Rp9,900 trillion, then over the next five years, to close the gap towards the 8% target, we need investment realisation of Rp13,000 trillion," he explained.

In 2024, Indonesia targeted investment of Rp1,650 trillion and successfully achieved it. For 2025, the investment target has been set at Rp1,905 trillion.

"Last year, against a target of Rp1,650 trillion, we managed to achieve more than that at Rp1,700 trillion. And this year, this ministry and government have set an investment realisation target of Rp1,905 trillion," he said.

In terms of progress, the government secured Rp465 trillion in investment during the first quarter of 2025. Regarding second-quarter investment performance, Todotua signalled that figures were relatively on track.

"The first quarter was quite safe. First-quarter investment realisation was around Rp465 trillion. Then in the second quarter, I was informed by the Deputy for Investment Control on Monday that the figures are relatively safe," Todotua concluded.
