Government suspends international flights amid Iran conflict escalation
Jakarta — The Indonesian government has formally decided to temporarily suspend all international flight operations as a precautionary measure in response to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that all international air travel plans are currently on hold. “Everything is on hold. On hold,” the State Secretary said when asked about the temporary suspension of international flights in Indonesia, following a coordination meeting for the Presidential Priority Programme at the Ministry of Defence building in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Regarding the duration of this policy, Prasetyo stated that the government has not set a specific date for when flight operations will resume. According to him, the suspension will remain in effect until the situation is declared safe for both national and international carriers.
“Yes, until an unspecified time frame,” he said.
Prasetyo confirmed that this decision is a direct consequence of the escalating security crisis in Iran. He added that the measure has been taken to ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens and prevent fatal risks arising from geopolitical tensions affecting global flight routes.
