Government Spending Reaches Rp155 Trillion; Purbaya Pushes for Faster Budget Execution
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has commented on the increase in central government spending, particularly by ministries and agencies (K/L), in February 2026.
Central government spending has reached Rp346.1 trillion by the end of February 2026, up 63.7% compared to Rp211.5 trillion in the same period last year. This central government spending dominates total state spending in the first two months of the year, which has reached Rp358 trillion.
Spending by K/L reached Rp155 trillion, representing growth of 85.5%. In February 2025, K/L spending realisations stood at only Rp83.6 trillion.
Purbaya attributed the growth in K/L spending realisations to the central government’s efforts to encourage faster spending by ministries and agencies compared to the previous year.
“No, that is not the case, because now we are designed to ensure the benefits of spending are distributed evenly throughout the year. At the beginning of the year we push for faster spending than last year,” said Purbaya on Friday, 13 March 2026.
On this occasion, Purbaya assured that the government has not implemented any cuts or reductions to K/L budgets in relation to geopolitical risks in the Middle East that could affect the State Budget (APBN).
“No, there have been no cuts,” he affirmed in response to questions about budget reductions.
