JAKARTA - The government has prepared 7,159 CCTV monitoring points and live-streaming drone coverage to oversee the 2026 Eid holiday exodus (mudik), a major digital initiative designed to anticipate increased mobility and potential congestion at various national transport hubs.

During a cross-sector meeting with the Indonesian National Police on Monday, 2 March 2026, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi emphasised that this year’s mudik monitoring system has been strengthened through collaboration with state-owned enterprises and the private sector, supported by weather data and early warning systems.

“In total, there are 7,159 CCTV monitoring points. We are collaborating with state-owned enterprises and the private sector. Monitoring also includes weather and early warnings from the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency,” said Dudy in an official statement.

“This digitalisation enables rapid and accurate decision-making in controlling national transport movement,” Dudy added.

He stressed the importance of preparedness among all stakeholders to anticipate congestion, particularly at strategic transport nodes likely to experience surges in passengers and vehicles.

“We need to anticipate congestion at transport hubs with the potential for severe density, particularly at strategic transport nodes such as terminals, stations, ports, airports, and major road access points,” said Dudy.

“Anticipated measures include vehicle traffic management for entry and exit, as well as ensuring the readiness of public transport services or feeder routes,” Dudy continued.

The Transport Ministry also requested support from the Indonesian National Police in security and traffic management. The Police will play a role in security, traffic management and engineering, and law enforcement to maintain order and travel safety for the public.

“Synergy between the Transport Ministry and the National Police is realised through coordinated flow control, operational oversight, and security at congestion and accident-prone locations,” said the Transport Minister.

“This collaboration ensures transport policy operates effectively with responsive field management support,” he added.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking state officials, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Military Commander Agus Subiyanto, National Disaster Mitigation Agency Chief Suharyanto, National Search and Rescue Agency Chief Muhammad Syafii, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency Chief, Food Security Agency Chief Andi Imran Sulaiman, and leaders of state-owned enterprises and related institutions.
