Previously, the number of programme beneficiaries was around 58 million by mid-January 2026. The figure is projected to rise to 82.9 million by the end of 2026 to meet President Prabowo Subianto’s target. ‘The government is committed to ensuring the MBG programme operates precisely targeted, safe, and sustainable as the foundation for building a healthy generation towards Indonesia Emas 2045,’ said Coordinating Minister for Food Security Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) in Jakarta, on Wednesday, remarks received. Zulhas, while chairing a coordination meeting on the implementation of Presidential Regulation No. 115 of 2025 on the Governance of the MBG Programme in Central Java on Tuesday (3/3), noted the MBG has reached around 9.29 million beneficiaries with 3,838 SPPG operating in Central Java. He said local governments play a key role in ensuring service quality, accelerating the issue of the Certificate of Hygienic Sanitation (SLHS), and maintaining the stability of local food supplies to support programme implementation. The SLHS achievement in Central Java stands at 35.03 percent, higher than the national average of 32 percent. ‘Local governments have a strategic role in ensuring food security, nutritional standards, and smooth distribution of local food supplies for this programme,’ he said. The MBG is supported by 28 ministries and agencies under Presidential Regulation No. 115 of 2025 and Presidential Decree No. 28 of 2025. According to Zulhas, the MBG programme could boost local economic activity through MSMEs, village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), fishermen cooperatives, and autonomous breeders as suppliers of food. However, he noted the government still encounters data discrepancies among beneficiaries in several regions, necessitating updates and further validation. To strengthen national monitoring and coordination, the government is preparing an integrated monitoring system. ‘The Coordinating Ministry for Food will build the MBG Command Center to support national coordination and oversight,’ Zulhas said. The government will also ensure MBG runs during Ramadan and holiday periods with adjustments to distribution in several areas. In fasting-majority regions, distributions will be through healthy packaged food, while schools in majority non-Muslim areas will continue normally.
