Government Renames SPHP Rice and Rebrands Packaging as 'Beras Kita'

Jakarta, VIVA – Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) stated that the government has agreed to change the name and packaging of the food supply and price stabilisation rice (SPHP) to “Beras Kita” (Our Rice) as its new identity.

“Oh, the new packaging will be launched soon. SPHP rice is being renamed Beras Kita. That’s nice, isn’t it?” said Zulhas after a Limited Coordination Meeting on the Management and Distribution of Government Food Reserves (CPP) at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs in Jakarta on Monday.

The change of name and packaging was agreed at the Limited Coordination Meeting on the Management and Distribution of Government Food Reserves (CPP) between the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs and the Minister of Agriculture, who also serves as Head of the National Food Agency, Andi Amran Sulaiman.

Also in attendance were the Deputy Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Agency (BP BUMN), Tedi Bharata, the President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, and other relevant parties in Jakarta.

According to Zulhas, the “Beras Kita” packaging uses a new colour that has been jointly agreed, including by the Minister of Agriculture and Head of the National Food Agency, Andi Amran Sulaiman, as the identity of the government’s rice product.

The government has scheduled the official launch of the new “Beras Kita” packaging for 20 October 2026, coinciding with three years of President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership.

Zulhas hopes that the change of name and packaging will make it easier for the public to recognise government rice whilst also supporting efforts to maintain the stability of rice supply and prices across Indonesia.

“I immediately agreed to this colour. Agreed straight away, the colour is very good, isn’t it? So we agreed immediately, the Minister of Agriculture also agreed. Yes, everyone agreed. This will be launched on 20 October. There will be Beras Kita Medium and Beras Kita Premium,” said Zulhas.

At the same event, the President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, explained that SPHP rice will change its packaging and name to Beras Kita Medium as the new identity of the government’s food supply and price stabilisation programme.

According to Rizal, the use of the name Beras Kita follows the naming of various government products such as Minyakita and Gula Manis Kita, which represent the spirit of the Prosperous Indonesian Family for the public.
