Jakarta - The government is implementing traffic engineering measures during the outbound and return Lebaran holiday period in 2026 on several strategic routes to anticipate vehicle congestion and maintain traffic flow.

The State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) formally announced in Jakarta on Tuesday that traffic engineering measures include one-way systems, contraflow lanes, and odd-even vehicle policies on a number of strategic toll road sections.

One-way systems will be implemented during 17-20 March 2026 for outbound traffic on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road from KM70 to the Semarang-Solo Toll Road at KM421, operating from 12:00 to 00:00 hours.

For return traffic on 23-29 March 2026, similar engineering measures will be applied in the opposite direction from 12:00 to 00:00 hours.

Contraflow measures will be implemented at several outbound traffic points, namely the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road from KM47 to KM70, starting 17-20 March 2026 from 14:00 to 00:00 hours, continuing on 21 March from 12:00 to 20:00 hours, and on 22 March from 09:00 to 18:00 hours.

For return traffic, contraflow will be applied on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road from KM70 to KM47 starting 23 March from 14:00 hours until 29 March at 00:00 hours.

Additionally, contraflow will also operate on the Jagorawi Toll Road from KM21 to KM8 on 24 March from 14:00-19:00 hours, and on 29 March from 14:00-19:00 hours.

The odd-even vehicle policy will be applied during outbound traffic on 17-20 March 2026 on the West Karawang Toll Road from KM47 to the Kalikangkung Toll Road at KM414, and on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road from KM31 to KM98 from 14:00 to 00:00 hours.

Similar measures will also be implemented during the return period, which is predicted to occur on 29 March 2026 starting from 00:00 hours.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, during a coordination meeting regarding preparations for Operation Ketupat 2026 at the Police Strategic Intelligence and Crime Centre Building in Jakarta on Monday (2 March), assessed that traffic engineering remains effective in alleviating potential congestion caused by increased vehicle volume during the Idul Fitri exodus and return periods.

“Certainly, the traffic engineering strategy will continue to be implemented based on existing experience,” he stated.

In addition to traffic engineering, the National Police will also implement measures at toll road rest areas and restrictions on three-axle vehicles.
