inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government is preparing Bali as an international financial center (IFC). Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the development of the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is being accelerated as a potential location for the development of a financial sector SEZ in Bali.

“So, what can the Kura Kura Bali SEZ offer as an IFC location? We’ll discuss this directly with Danantara,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga on Monday (5/4/2026).

The government is currently finalizing regulations as the basis for establishing a financial sector SEZ in Bali. The SEZ is designed to accommodate various requirements for establishing a financial center, from management schemes to providing facilities capable of attracting global investors.

PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), as the Business Entity Managing and Developing the Kura Kura Bali SEZ, explained the advantages of the Knowledge District ecosystem as a strategic location for the development of a financial sector SEZ.

This area is designed to build an integrated innovation ecosystem by optimizing knowledge capital, education, and human resources as drivers of new economic growth in Bali.

The Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is also preparing an ecosystem to support the operations of an international financial center through a Business Hub designed as a meeting point for the Global Blended Finance Alliance (GBFA) program, business schools, and leading investment pathways in Indonesia.

Furthermore, the Knowledge District will be strengthened by an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, which will serve as a platform for quality education, such as the ACS Bali intercultural school, and the development of coastal environmental research through the International Mangrove Research Center (IMRC).

Going forward, the development of the Kura Kura Bali SEZ will continue with the completion of several strategic projects in 2026. As of the first quarter of 2026, the SEZ recorded investment realization of IDR 1.62 trillion, employing 2,146 people.

Meanwhile, regarding the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Coordinating Minister Airlangga stated that its development is focused on strengthening the health tourism ecosystem to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a world-class healthcare destination.

One of the flagship facilities is the Bali International Hospital (BIH), which has been operational since April 2025 and provides a variety of specialist services.

As of the first quarter of 2026, the number of patient visits was recorded at 14,950 people, consisting of 60 percent foreign nationals (WNA) and 40 percent Indonesian citizens (WNI).
