Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid has explained the law enforcement steps being taken by the government in implementing PP Tunas.

Meutya emphasised that the government is ensuring the commitment to compliance from digital platforms through concrete measures. “Apart from the fact that we are currently entering the enforcement and supervision stage, we are already seeing compliance that we continue to examine with concrete steps,” she said.

“So it is not just on paper, but what the platforms have actually done, how far they have gone, and how many accounts have been subject to intervention by the platforms that we designated at the start,” Meutya stated at the opening of the ‘Perisai Tunas’ photojournalism exhibition in Central Jakarta on Thursday.

PP Tunas, the Government Regulation on Child Protection in Electronic System Governance, applies a risk-based approach where each platform is classified according to its risk level. “There are platforms categorised as high risk, which we restrict until the age of 16. There are platforms with low risk, which can be accessed by children from the age of 13,” she explained.

“This is what we hope for, that not only are children protected, but platforms also move towards becoming more child-friendly,” Meutya added.

She expressed confidence that technology companies and digital platforms are committed to improving the protection of child users, especially when supported by strong government regulation. The government will continue to supervise and evaluate the implementation of PP Tunas to ensure a safer digital space for Indonesian children while encouraging digital platforms to make continuous improvements.
