Government issues tourism profession guidelines
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism is collaborating with the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) to issue tourism profession guidelines that encompass 483 national occupational schemes in 34 tourism fields.
At the “Real Action for Revitalisation of Vocational Education and Training” event in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (22/4), Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that the tourism profession guidelines will soon be available for download on the ministry’s official website.
“This document serves as a strategic guide for tourism professions in Indonesia in building clear, structured, and nationally recognised competency standards,” she said, as quoted in the ministry’s press release confirmed on Thursday.
According to her, the launch of national occupational schemes is part of efforts to accelerate the improvement of human resource quality through vocational education.
She conveyed that by August 2025, the tourism sector had absorbed around 25.91 million workers.
Enhancing worker competencies is one of the keys to developing sustainable tourism businesses.
In addition, the ministry is conducting various competency-based training and certification programmes, including training for tour guides and capacity building for tourism service management.
Tourism training and certification programmes are implemented in accordance with Indonesia’s National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI).
The implementation of work competency standards, according to Widiyanti, will bring forth professionals who can support the development of high-quality and sustainable tourism businesses.
